The weather in Belfast is about to change from an unusual month of sunshine to its normal stormy grey summer climate. I was trying to work in the studio and nothing was working and it took me a day to realise that I needed to be painting outside while it was still a joy to do so.
Painting on this ‘peace wall’ was a street art dream of mine and the Craic is Not Wack, with all of its expressive energy and pop joy of being alive, seemed like the perfect piece for this grim human barrier.

The Craic is Not Wack is a direct homage (and a bit of a rip off) of Keith Haring’s 1980s Crack is Wack mural about the crack epidemic.
I have a limited edition screen print of this piece over here.
