Belfast is a city without a paste up culture.
Through limited research I discovered that there used to be a pretty healthy paste up culture, especially for gig posters but that all came to an end in 2008 when the council started fining people for fly posting and at the same time there was an anti gig poster vigilante who went round on a bicycle filming people putting up posters. By all accounts he was pretty odd.
Times have changed and street art (but not graff) are now part of the background noise of the city but there are little to no paste ups anywhere.
This hoarding has been here for years and behind it is another land banked building that won’t get turned into a hotel or student accommodation until the price is right so I have no qualms about using this wall as a paste up scrap book.
I have been trying to encourage other artists to start pasting on this wall but so far it hasn’t really worked.
I will keep adding to this page whenever new stuff goes up on the wall so watch this space.
